So I'm thinking of melding Koze and Jorden, two of my fursonas together to make the mascot of Rude Grinder.

So that's a bat/fox/behemoth.

Or a monster lol.

I also got Photoshop and Illustrator CS3 today. I feel inspired!

Tutorial: Scanlines

At the request of my friend Thoran, I'm making another tutorial, on scanlines in Photoshop.

This works for virtually any version. I'm using CS for this image, however.

So make a new document that's 1x2. Basically, follow the settings I have there.



Then you're gonna press Control + 0 (the number zero) to zoom it in to the max setting. Grab the selection tool and select half the image. Use the paint bucket tool to fill it in white.




Once you're done, press Control + A and go to the Edit menu and click "Define Pattern". It will prompt you to name the pattern. Feel free to name it "Scanline" or "Glockenspiel" or whatever floats your boat. You can close this image and not save it, since photoshop has now saved this as a pattern.



I needed a test image, so I grabbed this one off my furaffinity page. So once you got the image desired, make a new layer on top of it and then press Control + A (for select all). Then go to your edit menu again and select fill. It will show you a list of patterns. Pick your scanline pattern (it should be the last one) and press okay.



This is my end result. Adter filling in the selection, you need to go to the blending options toolbar in your layers toolbar and mess around with the blending options. As you can tell, I used two different blend modes on seperate layers. Photoshop has several blending modes, don't be shy to try them all.

Tutorial: Downloading and Installing Fonts

Okay. If you are currenty working on an image in a program, please close it now, since the fonts wont be loaded til you restart them. Okay?

Now, here we go.

You can easily find a good font sitre on google by looking up "Free Fonts"

But I'll save you the trouble. My favorite sites are

Blambot

1001 Free Fonts 

Once you're on the site, please select the kind of font you're looking for. Download them and place em somewhere nice, like your desktop. Once you're done, you're gonna probably have to extract them from zip folders (if you're using XP or vista, you should be able to unzip them, though I highly recommend getting winRAR). 

 


So you're gonna select all the zip folders with your fonts by either pressing Ctrl + Click or by clicking and dragging a box around the fonts. Then you right click them and select "Extract files"



Then you pretty much select the directory they should go in. Make sure it's C:\WINDOWS\Fonts. Extract em, and they're all good. Next time you restart your graphic program or word processor, the fonts will be installed.
